The birds close to home

Sometimes wildlife photographers are cast under the illusion that they need to travel places to see birds, but really there’s birds everywhere, including your home. It sadly took me almost year to realise this. So yesterday I went out hunting for birds with my camera. The first culprit was the notorious blackbird, fossicking through leaf litter.

And after meeting a few of the locals.

I finally encountered a native or natives for that matter, there were two fantails, one pied and one black. So that equalled me following their flighty paths, until finally they both paused, allowing me to snap both their pictures.

Eventually I ventured out onto the street where I was busy with 2 Spur -Winged Plovers, a single Goldfinch, and a whole flock of silvereyes! Quite the crowd!

What a day!
